    Looking for some help!!

Turbo does not appear to be spooling up at full throttle, although it does on partial throttle.

    Any ideas??

We've just replaced our turbo as ours gave in

Was fine driving until you came to a complete standstill and then the car struggled like hell to pull away.

Do you have the engine management light come on? These engines have a well known fault where the diaphragm in the RDV splits and will put it into limp mode thus reducing your boost. Although it wont ALWAYS bring this code up. Similarly a faulty valve that costs a tenner will give you the same fault, but judging from this forum (and my experience) it's been the diaphragm.

No engine management light or limp mode. What is the RDV, and what valve are we talking about?

No engine mods at all yet, have'nt got that far.

Its a 2005 plate with only 32k on the clock. Is this diaphragm easy/cheap to replace?

the recirc dump valve is mounted on the side of the turbo its held on by 3 bolts ...the repair kits about £100 and consisits of a gasket a diaphram a seating cup and a replacement spring ..its not easy to access but it is "doo able" whilst still fitted ....

i would be checking and double checking everthing else first though as the diaphram usually fails on higher mileage "mapped" cars - i suspect that you may have a pinhole leak on one of the feed pipes or one of the 2 x solenoids might be sticking

does the fault occur EVERY time you drive the car ? with the RDV the vale would work and then you might feel a lump on accelerating - then the car looses the turbo completely

No, it doesn't happen all the time, on light throttle its ok, it's only when you really put your foot down there's nothing.

Yes - it means you can now get the code(s) read, which may well give a big clue as to what the cause is.
