Noise when braking

guys,
anyone know what this could be?
my vectra was making a loud groaning noise when braking hardish.
had a friend of mine look at the front brakes, all ok (also found out since they were changed 1yr ago), checked rear disks they were worn. changed both the discs & pads.
went to cornwall for the week, its now started making the noise again.
im hoping its just the sound of abs & nothing serious but i dont think it is as im not slamming the brakes on.
doesnt make the sound when gently slowing down but if i brake slightly harder when nearly coming to a stop, it starts.

any ideas?

it happened before i changed the rear brakes, didnt happen for about a week but is back now.
can i do anything to stop it?

you could put angles on the edges of the pads can shut it up

sorry to sound dim, what does that mean? where do i get them?
could it be anything else making the noise?

i think he means take them off and get them on a gridin stone and smooth the edge out

not realy. the edges of the pads smooth them over or curve them round
