Any engine can run for a long time if looked after, serviced regularly, not abused, buts it's everything else attached to it, i.e gearbox, pumps, steering rack, suspension, bearings, could go on but I'll only depress myself lol. Any decent diesel IMO can run for 200k without any major issues, but depends if it's being used as a taxi or a motorway runner as things tends to wear more on stop start journeys. I have a taxi driver friend who owned a mk2 mondeo that had covered 450k when he sold it, and now has a 1.9cdti 120 that he bought with 120k, now has 160k on and has had no issues what so every. He also has a bud who has got a 2.2dti that is coming up to 200k!

Just goes to show, if a car is looked after, it can last a lifetime

450-500 mls so long as the oil is changed very regular the oil is the key to long life not every 20k more like every 6k get rid of the soot in the oil and engines do the mileage.

Second hand cars after 3 yrs old either get looked after or the new owner thinks it's been serviced top end now they stretch the service intervals to save cash and this is when the trouble starts.
