Default hello Vectra-C.com (pics now added)

    Hi all,

Thought I'd drop in and say hi.

Just bought myself a 2006 Vectra 1.9CDTI 150 estate. Its got the XP pack fitted and sat nav, which attracted me to the car initially. I was looking at Mondeo ST's but the vectra just looked so much more solid side by side.

Had it serviced last night, the oil was absolutely filfthy but it was about 2k short of the 20k service. I think I'll probably get it serviced about every 10k just to be on the safe side, for £80 its worth it.

The car is black and does have quite a few swirl marks on it and the odd scratch but nothing major. If anyone has any tips? :-) Was looking at getting it detailed but it seems to be quite pricey

Also, when engaging the clutch there is a small amount of rattling which after reading the forum sounds like the DMF may be on the way out or just noisy..... I think I may just leave that though until it fails, just make sure I have breakdown cover!

Also had a look at the swirl flap rod and thats all ok, for now.

    Cheers all

goodmorning and welcome to Vec-c.............yep I would recommend an oil change every 10K...if you ck out the detailing section there are plenty of guides and tips for swirl removal and to which products are best suited for black cars .
Good luck with your purchase ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Firstly to the forum.

Secondly where did you buy the car? If it was from a garage then I'd take it straight back to them to have that DMF checked out properly. It is a pretty expensive fix, your looking at between £750 - £1300 depending on where you go, alternatively about £450 if you can DIY.

You should still have some comeback with the garage you bought it from and even if it was an individual as long as you didn't sign something to say sold as seen.

Gave the car another wash today so thought I'd stick some pics up. So far I've:-
    Had it serviced
Dent removal - rear wing, rear door, boot plus one on the roof
Engine bay fully cleaned, looks like new again. Don't think it had ever been touched
Interior cleaned - wasn't too bad but needed a polish and also did spare wheel reccess which was filthy
Bought new plates for it and fitted
Sprayed up wiper arms and fitted some new flat blades
Purchased and fitted lockers as it had none!

That's about if for now as it's completely skint me. I'll give it a good polish in the next couple of days though as theres a couple of marks I need to work on.

    Hope you enjoy the pics

cheers for that mate, it was private so I suppose you take a chance. I'm not too concerned about the possible dmf fault as I'm happy with what I paid for the car. I'll just have to keep my eye on it
