Default Newbie advice wanted re 1.9cdti 150bhp version

    Hi all,

I am contemplating buying a Vectra SRI 1.9cdti 150bhp estate, it is on a 56 plate with 49k on it. I have been reading some horror stories about egr, suspension coils etc. Can anybody please advise if these stories are as bad as I am hearing.

    Thanks in advance

    Tone

Not horror stories, just a few common faults as with any motor you may be lucky if the motor has already had some of the units swapped out already may be worth checkin the service history. The biggies are manifold swirl flaps, alternator, duel mass flywheel and erg. But mine has also had ps pump go. All said though for all it's niggles it's still a joy to drive with bags of power defo not a decision I regret (just hope your one of the lucky ones who don't get all the problems)

Mine's an 08 so has had the niggles sorted (crosses fingers) and I'm very happy with it. Had many Vauxhalls but first diesel, plenty of power, good MPG, corners and changes direction well enough to keep me happy. Apparently they were sorted from 57 plate onwards, as above, check the service history for the usual, manifold swirl flaps, alternator, if manual gearbox dual mass flywheel, springs. If happy, enjoy.

Don't forget the swirl flaps, dmf's, dpf's, inlet manifolds, 3rd injector issues...... Although there of thousands of them about so it's actually a small percentage that develop faults. Probably no more than any other car makers.
