    Default The brute

    Hi everyone,

As I said last week I spent my free time on Thursday (until my mom's accident) driving round in this monster:-

    It's an SL 500, with a 5.5 litre V8 shoving out not far off 400bhp & 530NM torque. Flipping awesome .

I've been in TVR's M3's, M5's etc & none compare to the experince of this.

It is just beautiful to drive, effortless & like silk if you just want to waft around, but press the accelerator more than 1/4 inch & it's a snarling, howling beast, floor it & it is unbelieveably savage, extreme care is needed, it is not a car to drive without the utmost respect lol

In the time it was with us it averaged 13MPG!!!! & a fair percentage of that was cruising on the M6!!!

I can't begin to imagine what the AMG or bigger V12 versions must be like, it doesn't seem possible to make it more powerful.

Sorry the pics aren't great they were off my phone, I wanted to get some at home but I had to dash off.

    Nice - but I thought the 500 was a 5litre - the 55AMG being the 5.5litre.......but anyway - wither's fine with me!!!!

Yes, it is a stunning machine.

The auto box is fantastic, especially when you use the paddles. Make it hold the gears & it makes an almighty noise, even if you're not booting it!

    It's actually a 5460cc btw

I think the AMG is the same engine just tuned differently.

    As I said image the 6.0 V12!!!

    0-60 in just over 4s

I'm in love with it lol

I'd have thought a secret agent like you would have inshishted on an Ashtun Mahten, to ensure you'd be shaken not schtir'd

That's pretty nice - I prefer the AMG'd versions (just enough poke for me) - and the McLaren one they had in the Sheffield dealer (as a crowd puller) was friggin mental!

Personally I like the CLS (Shh, don't tell people I like mercs.... ) with some phat rims on (in black or dark blue, natch) or even the R Class.....

But I'm settling on a Monaro when the oil refinery I've bought is up to speed!

Oh - and the SL's do sound good - but I prefer Lambo's..... they surely make the sound of satan..... (better decatt'd and unrestricted)

Yes mate, we have a CLS at the office. It's a 320 diesel & it's a beautiful car.

I put pics on here somewhere a while back.

Heheh - I wish our "office" had something tasty like that.... and that I was allowed to "borrow" it from time to time....

But we have minis instead.... (at least I don't - I have taste)

The only Merc is the panzer-wagen (ML) that the gaffer has, he's only allowing his wife to drive it

I also love the classic "batwing" mercs - I think they were the W-series?

The 6 litre jobbie was a real mafia car...... (and that's a 60's car I'm on about)
Oh, and the original 300sl with the gullwing doors is pure naughtiness - shame it didn't have a v8 though as the 6 pot was a bit slack for the day.
