Default 1.9 CDTI 150 Cambelt type

I am about to change mine @ 60k.

There was a thread describing the different manufactures/suppliers of these but I can't find it now, it must have commenced after 4th Aug.

Looking at Euro Car Parts, there are 2 different parts for the 150 engine, one from SKF (£114.90), the other from Conti Tech (£132.78), the Cont Tech one out of stock at present.

What have others in the Forum used? Is the SKF one OK & which supplier(s) does Vx use for OEM?

    Thanks

The retail price of a complete cambelt kit (belt, tensioner and rollers) from Vauxhall is £114+VAT.

I know which one I would go for....

The euro parts skf kit contains the same idle roller fitted by vx (skf and both are stamped so), The belt in this kit is a gates belt! (Most here would be happy with that), The tensioner is made in canada (the vx factory one is made in china), Buy with confidence theres nothing in it!. ive just fitted one and its good quality. PS ive just been quoted £133 for the kit from vx)

If your car is on 60k, you don't have to replace the belt on a 150 till 100k.

We both changed the water pumps also!, cant say for pete b but mine was due to a water pump failure!!, just back from a week off and had a good look at the belt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, im very surprised it looks like the pump was semi seizing due to the marks on the back of the belt!, it has the effect of rubbing and a slight layer removal, the engine was hard to turn over by hand with the old pump fitted & when removed it was well shot!, the belt at 62k does feel 'hard' and not as it should for the 62k it has covered, i was going to let it go to 85-90k but now glad i done it.

It's a brave person that lets the belt run to 100K. Or if not brave, someone with deep pockets ready to pay for fixing the inevitable carnage.

A good thing with vx engines (although the cdti is fiat derived) is that the follow'ers snap when in contact with the pistons if the belt break's! therefore only doing minimum damage & on recent inspection my cdti 150 belt it would have been in GOOD condition IF the failure of the water pump had'nt have affected the running quality of the belt..

That was (maybe still is) the recommended Vx interval but there is now enough evidence through this and the other marque groups that involve vehicles using this engine that the interval is too long. It's not always the belt that is the primary cause, a failed water pump, especially it seems in cars of the 2004/2005 era or idler failure will cause the same effect.

Therefore, now just at 60k miles for my 2006 facelift, I'm planning to do the lot - belt kit, waterpump and auxilliary belt (might as well while it's being removed).

I'll see what the Vx dealer will quote for supplying the parts next week, maybe I'll get them to give a discount. Getting one for parts was dead easy when we had the local dealer here in Malvern but since the Worcestershire dealership went under last year, I have to use the current Worcester dealer (who didn't re-open the Malvern branch) & it's not so easy.
