    Default Worst Holiday ever

Well late last year I told the wife and kids we are not going abroad yet again. 2010 would be 2 weeks sunshine in the uk.
So the kids are kept happy we would go to a Haven Hoilday camp in Devon Sands.
    (not really a cheaper option at £1700 + another £1500 food/extras)
The site was a bit on the rough side, and they ripped you off in every way possible.
But worst of all it rained every day for 2 weeks and we ended comming home 3 days early. Then got stuck in a 1.5hr traffic jam, just like the traffic jam we arrived in.
That is it for us and holidays in the uk for another 10yrs
This country is not getting hotter just wetter and windy.
Haven is a shambles that needs serious money spent on it rather then just grapping
    Roll-on next year

Sorry to hear about your bad holiday mate, have you sent a written complaint to HAVEN, at the very least they should refund some of your money if the holiday was not as described in the brochure/on the net.

Reminds me of my last UK holiday with the kids:

1979 (yes I am that old) - week in Ladbrooks Holiday Park in Caister - peed down solid for the whole time (the year Wimbledon was flooded out).

We were in my first ever brand-new car (Mk2 Escort) - baffles went in the tail-box and some kind soul dinged by bootlid. Spent the week finding things to do inside (expensive). You even had to put money in the meters in the chalet for TV and electric.

Not a happy family and never ever holidayed in the UK again.

The OP has my deapest sympathy.

Not good to hear about a holiday from hell !

We have our hols abroad, just can't get the weather in the UK. Very hit and miss.

BUT, now we're starting to pay adult prices for the kids as they seem to become adults at the age of 10 years old , we might just have to look at the UK for our future holidays.

Having said that , i think the way forward is all inclusive holidays.
Did it in Mexico in 2008 and in Cyprus last year and i do like the idea of eating and drinking what and when you like and not having to find the extra cash.(especially with kids - want, want, want ).

We did Cyprus all inclusive with spending money ( not that we really needed any) for around £4k ! That included hiring a car aswell.
Your washed out UK nightmare cost £3200 ! Worth thinking about in the future.

    Cheers for the sympathy guys.
    We have always done all-inclusive before (spain,cyprus) comes in under 3k 2adults + 2kids 4* hotel.
I just got a bit feed up with it, and for some very crazy reason went for uk this year.
Now the wife is pushing at taking over the hoilday bookings after this mess
I could end up with flipping micky mouse in my ear for 2 weeks

Have to agree a UK holiday isn't quite the bargain you expect on many levels, and there is always the gamble with weather.

I too chose to holiday in the UK but on a far lower expenditure way as a friend owns a chalet on the Cowal peninsula. For the almost two months leading up to our break, the weather had been amazing almost tropical you might say, however on the very first day we were to leave to go there it was cloudy and drizzled, the weather managed to rain every day of our holiday which in Scotland isn't unusual but considering the unbroken run leading up, was it too much to expect at least one dry day?

Money will dictate my 2011 plans again (long story) but my dream would be to take wife and daughter to California and do the tour of the studios, Disney seaworld and the beaches in an environment of permaSun!
