    Default Signum tailgate gas struts

Hi, I have a Signum and over the last few weeks the gas struts don't hold the tailgate unless I push them hard unto the end of their travel, this has got progressively worse and it has hit me on the head a few times, never had this prob. b4 and had car for 2 yrs. Any ideas pls. 55 Reg. facelift model.

Simply replace them, they can lose their gas over time - mine did anyway. Either get a set from the dealers, think they're somewhere around £25-30 from memory each, or get a third-party set of the right length and type which may be a bit cheaper.

Forgot to say. They simply unbolt. You'll obviously need a strong person, or two, to hold the tailgate whilst you replace each strut as the tailgate is chuffing heavy. Obviously replace the worst one first then you'll have the strength of the new one to assist when you replace the other side.

I have this issue - cold weather or just heavy with rain like today they fail.

I've been looking on Ebay at these for weeks but not splashed the cash - you can get two for about £30. Think they are originals but check part numbers.

I'm looking for new ones too, because mine creak and groan as I open the boot, and is a little embarassing in car parks, driveway etc!!
