Best getting a BSR remap thru' LMF (approved trader on here) Way way cheaper than going to BSR direct. £560 as against £700-odd from BSR.

All done over the phone. BSR send you a remapping unit by post with a generic map (for the 2.0T) for your car (will only work on your car). You install it yourself and you're off.

Is £560 not a little high for a generic remap John?

I am looking to get mine done at some point also.

I always thought rolling road maps were the way to go, and generic maps are off the shelf one size fits all solutions.

£560 for a generic map seems high.

(pls dont shoot me I am new to this engine and speaking from my past experiences).

Its a lot to pay for a stage 1 imho... If your going for stage 3 or above BSR or Maptun are the way to go, but if you just want to take it to about 220bhp then get a RR map or speak to torquingbhp who will visit you for £400

Yes it is high, compared with some competitors. Their remaps are generic but are developed/tested using cars with the same engine, and as long as your car is problem-free, then you will attain or exceed their quoted bhp/torque figures, when rolling-roaded.

BSR have been doing remaps since 1991.

Their Stage 1 remaps are, to be fair, designed to be done to 'stock' cars with the standard engine and original ancillaries and exhaust.

I went for BSR to remap my old 2.0T after reading on here how good their Stage 1 remap was for the 2.0T, and paid £500 (10% discount) as part of a Group Buy on here.

The car was an 04 pre-facelift and was rolling-roaded 3 times with figures of 222, 223 and 233 bhp and torque between 310 and 320 Nm. The car was absolutely standard except for the airbox mod.

I'd never recommend a BSR to anyone after BSR support screwed me over, My car went in for a software update and now the PPC cannot remap my car and BSR want £80 per year to extend what I was lead to believe was lifetime support..

Yep, that is an issue and a 'con' rather than a 'pro' certainly.

My response was to do really with the fact that BSR remaps are generic, rather than custom, and the fact that they are expensive.

what has been said so far is why i didnt choose bsr for mine i didnt like the idea of not being able to speak to a real person if i had a problem, i have said this many times before darrel at torquing bhp is the dogs he writes his own maps and certainly delivers, i havnt had one single problem with his map since it was done in jan this year, also i have kept in touch with darrel because he is interested in feedback of any kind you cant get better if you ask me

i for one (as will many others on here) give my support to the "smaller" specialist mappers about - i used Darrell @ TorquingBHP on here on my old 2.0T and the results were amazing at a just under half of the cost - Darrells customer service was amazing - the remap took about an hour and i was there for over 5 ...... just a thoroughly nice chap to talk to and deal with - i still get calls and txt's from him now ....thats over a year on

0-Large smile ......every time it's driven
