Default MAF fault code won't clear

I have replaced my MAF sensor (Z32SE engine) but am still getting the spanner symbol on my dash display and the same fault code. Does this need to be reset or should it have cleared? If the MAF sensors not the fault, what is? Is it a wiring or plug fault?

    Cheers.

    Default

If the fault was due to the sensor itself, the light would go out and the fault code would self-clear after 30 ignition on/off cycles, or when cleared with a diagnostic tester.

    Other things to check for:-

MAF fitted wrong way round (just checking! )
Loss of power supply / earth to MAF
Air leak between outlet of MAF and engine.
Pins pushed back in MAF connector
Defective wiring between MAF and ECU
    Defective ECU
Other sensor(s) giving incorrect readings, confusing ECU into thinking MAF is faulty.
Mechanical fault with engine (valve timing, burnt valves).

    Default

Unfortunately, just because the fault code says "Mass Air Flow Meter Defective", this is only a pointer to the area that may be at fault. A load of diagnostic testing is often necessary to pin-point the exact cause of the problem.

Where did you get your replacement MAF? Brand new from Stealers, off ebay or from a donor car??

Are you sure this replacement MAF is fully working and functional?

Ok. Does any of you have details of pin outs for the wiring between MAF sensor and ECU? Where is the ECU? I am going to try to find the problem - whatever it is - and fix it.

Anyone live near you with the same car?? Could try a quick swap of MAF's of a known working one to confirm if it is or is not the problem??
