    Default Got my Vectra now

    Hello Guys,

    Maybe you remember I have some problems with P/X my astra for Vectra - HPI check had nice line about my Astra: This registration was recorded stolen by an insurance company on 26 Oct 2006.
    Dealer who had Vectra for sale was so nice that he arranged HPI company to check and than remove that entry after investigation. So yesterday after 2 long weeks waiting, I got my Vectra !!!

    Huge difference between two cars, much smoother ride now.

    Car just went through full service (part of the deal) and have fresh MOT on it. Got new EGR valve fitted, so hopefully this will not cause me any problem in near future.

    Got few questions if you guys don't mind answering:

    1. Can members from Hastings area recommend good garage for service etc.

    2. Do you maybe know how much VX charge for new Key (got only one)

    3. I read a lot about those tuning boxes, there lots on flee bay, with different prices. Can you recommend any?

    4. Does such box have any influence on the engine? It makes it to work harder, if I'm right?

    new keys vary from £75 to £90..from vx

    Oh yes forgot to mention. This is 1.9 CDTi 120 life - nothing special, no mods really basic.

    I heard you get most from diesels, using tuning boxes or even better with remap, but don't know any good garage to remap around here

    I think something wrong with my Vectra. When accelerating around 2k-2.5k Vectra has small jerks - at higher revs it stops. It was fine yesterday, but today this.
    No additional lights on dashboard or smoke.

    Anyone have any idea?

    of the car?Don't have any yet, and it is normal no mods silver in colour.

    Car feels like it is choking. I don't know how else to describe it

    Sounds like a flat spot just as the turbo spools. Is it worse under light throttle.??
    And can you accelerate through it. Could be a dodgy MAF. Also what is the service history like. From what you have described i would put my money on either a clogged fuel filter or a MAF approaching the end of its life. Neither will throw an error code.

    Thanks Crespo for hints
    Service history - service every year by VX dealer. But with out clear description what was done - just service, and sometime note - changed tyres or changed oil etc. Nothing about what filters or anything else. Last service I know they changed EGR valve. I was suspecting MAF.
    Strange it does not happen if I accelerate slowly - light throttle it is fine, but only when acceleration pedal is pushed to the floor and I got 2-3k revs chokes before it reaches to around 3k and later all is fine. I can accelerate through it it just worrying symptom.

    So again to members near Hastings - any garage you can recommend?

    Need to get myself a box of tools

    I just wonder, do you if it is possible to rent garage space to fix car? As I don't have house with own drive, I have to do everything on street (which is up hill). Cleaning sensor should not cause problems, but anything more major - just not so convenient .

    Anyway, will clean it as soon as I will get myself torxs - looks easy to do.
