    Default Not happy with car

2 months ago I purchased a vectra '05 2.2 SRI (petrol) with 38000 miles from vauxhall in Cambridge.
After 4 days the front suspension collapsed and twisted with the sharp end scraping the tyre and inside of the alloy. I had kids in the car but luckily the car was stationary when it happened other wise the tyre would have been ripped to shreds. Researching faulty suspension and it seems to be a common problem that Vx are aware of.

Last week the tensioner had to be replaced along with the belt.

While drving home last night the electronic/ transmission light came on and the engine went into safe mode limiting me to 40 mph. Not fun driving on dual carraigeway.

Luckily the car is covered under the 12 month warranty so network Q is picking up the cost.

With all this happening I have absolutley minimal confidence in the car and expect something else to break very soon and once the warranty expires.

My question is; do I have justification to request the garage take the car back (at the price I paid of course) or do I sell on asap?

    Regards

If you've had the chain done, new springs and now fuel reg and pump then nothing else can really go wrong. The car should be reliable from now on. But if its always going to be in the back of your mind then your never going to be happy with it mate and best try to get them to take it back. But as said if you've had all them bits replaced then that's all that really goes wrong with the direct so you should have many happy years motoring.

PS we have 3 different makes of car in the family and all have had bust springs, its not just a VX thing.

Thats a bit extreme isnt it , all cars have problems and it all depends on how well they have been looked after by the previous owner.

I have to agree your car has had more problems than most but in a way its a good thing because you have had the major problems fixed for free under warranty which means the car should be very reliable in future.

Hope you have better luck from now on

Pump and tensioner are the 2 big ones on the direct. The Manifolds can go but not too often. If the pump and tensioner/chain has been replaced for uprated ones on the direct then you should have a very good car, the engines are strong, its just them couple of bolt on parts that can fail in there old guise.
