    Default Hardwired iPhone

    Hiya folks,

I've been looking in to getting my iPhone 3Gs hardwired to the CD70 system in my Vectra so I can play my own music and answer calls etc directly through the cars speakers and I saw the kit that www.mobileinstall.co.uk offers.

I've had a quote and it'll be the best part of £300 to get the "Ultimate iPhone Kit" installed, which includes the ability to use the cars steering wheel controls to use the iPhone etc.

What's everyone think? Any other (cheaper) alternatives out there?

    Simon

its only going to be a parrot kit with unika controls - im sure if you hunt around you could find it cheaper - install it yourself

    Hiya mate,

Yeah I was thinking that myself, but would it be easy for a tool like me to do?? My only concern is that my CD70 is pre-Aux in so will it mean getting a soldering kit out etc??

the parrot kits work with a SOT lead (sound on top) that plugs in line with the radio and bluetooth/ipod kit - fairly easy to do and plenty of help on here - the most espensive part is the radio controls (unika) if you can live without that then the parrot mki9200 sells for around £150 on ebay and the sot leads for around a tenner - self install in 2 hours with little or no experience - with experience under an hour

    no soldering needed

    Cheers mate

I can probably live without the steering wheel controls.... I'll just have to stretch an extra 6 inches to use the parrot remote!

    Cheers again.

You can put the remote on the steering wheel if you want - there's a strap for it included in the kit. You will need to get a power source for the SOT lead - usually from the cig lighter, and a couple of the wires need swapping over. Otherwise the only problem is persuading all that extra wiring etc to go back into the space behind the radio and glovebox. And then spending ages deciding where you actually want to position the screen and remote!

The iphone will play music through the parrot via bluetooth too.
