    Default Mod-Tastic!

Well after yesterdays fantastic meet I've seriously started thinking about the odd mod or two. I'm definately going to get some Richbrook Vauxhall Chrome door pins but I'm also considering a K & N Filter. I saw the one on Mrs D's and Drinky said it upped the BHP by a significant amount. Drinky said he had a modified air box (not sure how) as well as a panel filter on there. So I have been looking around at the K & N stuff but also notice that they sell induction kits and wonder how good these are and if you need to get a panel filter as well as these or if it's an either or situation?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Cheers

    Dave

it is either or the induction kits tend to give more of a roar but the panel filters imo are better due to not as much crud getting through!

To much hot air sucked in with an induction kit, not good unless you spend 200 quid and get a pipercross viper which is a sealed unit. K&N pannle filter will only cost you about 40 to 45.

The air box mod is just getting rid of a bit of plastic in the box.
    Heres the box with it

    and this is without

Getting rid of this little bit of plastic just helps the filter work a bit better as this seams to push all the intake to one end of the filter

Lifted these pics from instalers how to thread.

Thank's rushy, think I might venture outside and have a look at mine now Are there any downsides to removing this? Also you said that an induction kit pulls in too much hot air ... is this dependant on where it's fitted or doesn't that matter?

Ian ... Does the ECU prevent an induction kit being fitted then?

Jonno ... More roar sounds good!!

    Cheers Guys!

The induction noise is great for a bit but it gets on your nerves after a while. You can mod the placement of the actual filter on the induction but its just more pipe and more bends( also bad). Regal do a good system by dbilas, It has a cast custom box, K&N and all the pipework to make a sealed unit all for 167 pounds.
Not to sure why that bit of plastic is there but most people take it off with no detriment.

IMO Dave your probably better going for the K&N panel filter & airbox mod. Induction kits dont like there hot air under the bonnet on a turbocharged engine unless you go for a sealed cold air unit & my veccy runs quite nicely with a K&n with the airbox mod still gives a bit of induction noise but not to the extent of an induction kit. Nice to have met you yesterday btw

Thanks for the advice guys, I've just finished removing the bit of plastic and cleaning my air box, thinking I probably will go for a k & N Panel filter from what you have said but will have a look at the dbilas kit first ... although guessing that might affect my warranty? Does a K & N Panel Filter affect the VX Warranty do you know?
