confused Having the wool pulled over my eyes??

Vectra Auto [150] came to a standstill on Friday night.

Engine started OK, but could not remove out of the 'P' position - no matter how hard or long I tried.

Switched off the engine - and couldnt get my keys out of the barrell !!

AA were called / couldnt fulfill so sent out 911 recovery to uplift car & take to local ArnoldCLark Dealer.

Got a call today to say the car was ready for collection, and when I went to pick her up, I was told that all was wrong was a blown fuse !!!

5 Days to discover a blown fuse - WTF...

They omitted to tell my which fuse would cause this.

Does this sound plausable - and if so does anyone know which fuse to check in futre -should thid rear it's ugly head again?

    TIA

sounds 100% plausible, had this with my work vehicle a couple of years ago, AA guy fixed it by bypassing fuse.

this can also be caused by blown brake light bulbs, as you have to press the brake pedal to take it out of park. dunno if this is the case with a veccy though as i havent driven an auto, im sure you can clarify this.

sometimes workshops seem to go for the more complicated reason rather than the blindingly obvious, simple to check solution. also with my work vehicle, it wouldnt kick down & another driver thought it was a gearbox fault. took it to the local dealer & a mechanic came out for a test drive with me. he had a few ideas, but he said the 1st thing he'd check would be the fuel filter & would you know it, that was the problem, 30 minutes & it was fixed! so, some dealers are better than others.
