    Default Do I spend 353 or 765??

ok so the DMF has gone on the 1.9cdti. Vauxhall have offered a good will payment as it is just over 3 years old so the question is.....

Do I just replace the DMF at the cost of 353

    or

Replace DMF and the clutch at the same time for 765

It has done 42K miles and dealership are advising getting the clutch sorted as it has some heat spots? I am not sure how long I will keep it which will obviously sway my decision, either 6 months or run it for a good 2 years and 30k more miles depending on my wifes job.

Your opinions would be appreciated. Thanks

Where are they getting those figures from because thats a lot of money for a clutch kit. They should only be charging for the clutck kit parts only NO LABOUR as there simply is no extra labour involved if the gearbox is off and the dmf is getting changed, there pulling your chain to get some money out of you i would bring this to there attention and tell them you will pay for the clutch kit and no labour or you will contact VX personally.

    appologies for me naivety here.

they claim this is parts only for the clutch as they have like you say no labour to do, how much should I be paying from a main dealership for this part (no labour)?

Hmmmm had a browse and just under 400 supposedly is book price, you can buy the same kit from ebay genuine gm parts for 265. When is it going into the garage?

You could always buy one elsewhere and leave it in the boot and tell them the new clutch is in the boot and save yourself some money.

those prices sound about right for the dealers using Vauxhall supplied parts. If it's not covered by warranty, tell them you want LUK parts from a motor factors fitting. They are excatly the same at half the price. Always, but always change the lot.

I only paid 740 fitted for LUK DMF and complete clutch at a VX Specialist think you got ripped off IMO if they charged 765 you haven't saved anything really.
