    Default Portable SatNav's !

Driving on the M5 motorway to Tewksbury this morning, i noticed quite a few cars with their portable satnav's stuck to the screen in some right dodgy places.
The best one (or worst) was half up the screen, directly infront of the driver !!! Surely this isn't legal ? I thought you had to have a clear field of view ? I put mine centre - bottom of the screen which is the safest place i believe.

The other thing i saw was a Fiesta with a dash covered in cuddly toys (not small ones either) sat in the middle lane with no traffic on the inner lane for about 1000m, other than a van and that was just leaving the motorway !

2 reasons why i DON'T put mine near the side windows......

1/ I don't want or like the power cable streached across the dash.
2/ I've seen a satnav swiped from a car while it was at a set of traffic lights, with the window down, in broad daylight ! By the time the owner knows whats happened, the scumbucket has gone, along with your satnav !

I cringe when I see people with it right in front of their face. Saw a bloke in Bristol on the M4 the other night, sat nav and a PDA of some description, you guessed it - both slapped in the centre field of view ?!?!?!?!?

I dont use mine much now due to having a CD70 but a coulple of times, I nearly lost it out the window cornering lol, used to have it right down low, centre of the screen.

I used to put mine right at the bottom of the screen (centre) but the shallow angle of the vec windscreen make it really hard to fit.

Bottom center although I prefer bottom right.

Works one is bottom center in the Crafter but thats due to cable restrictions. Have seen a few of the vans with them positioned right in the field of vision, cannot be safe!!

There are a lot of cars with sat navs in them just because they think they should have a sat nav, they are turned on but you can see there is no routing, the number of women you have them on when they are clearly going home from work !
In the taxi I have mine mounted on a vent mount so it is out of windscreen eyeline. In the insignia it is in the right hand corner of windsreen.the lead is long enough to tucked out of the way in both cases.
