    Default Torque to Power Conversion...

Here's some useless info for you, James Watt determined that a pit pony could do 33,000 foot punds of work per minute. That's where are bhp comes from. so how do we work out bhp?

One lbft is one lb applied at one foot from centre, so for every one rpm our force will travel pi*D (3.14159265358........*2foot).

    So one lbft at one rpm = 1 * 1 / (33000 / (pi*2)) = 1/5252.268.....

So at any given rpm, bhp = (lbft * rpm * pi ) / 16500

    or aproximatly lbft * rpm / 5252

Which is why on a power/torque graph, the power and torque are always the same at 5252rpm (unless the graph is incorrect).

Or unless you're using SI units

Isnt everything now measured in Newton/Metres? Unless you live in America?

You got to love America for staying independant and sticking with imperial!
