    Default coolant running temperature?

What is your running temperature when hot/warm normal driving? This is at 85-90 up hills or stationary. 85 on the normal drive but does take 3 miles before it registers off the bottom of the gauge?

Thinking weak stat or this maybe common.? vectra c 1.9cdti 58 plate 120bhp

nope, thats about right. It will take longer than three minutes to start registering when the colder weather comes.

Sounds normal to me. My 1.8 takes about 5 mins of driving at least befoe my guage registers the temp. Mine normally goes to about 90-95 and stays there.

Mine tends to be 8-85 on normal driving but can go uo to 90 while in heavey stop start traffic. It soon goes down again once moving though. Mines a 2.0 Turbo though so could be different.

Sounds right, diesels do take longer to warm up than petrols.

Nope. Sounds like your thermostat is in need of a replacement. When warm it shouldn't drop back much below 85.

Bigtee - 85 is about right running temperature and 3-5 minutes running before gauge begins to move is also about right - will obviously take longer to get to 85 in winter - I have a 3.0 V6 CDti and this is what I see.

Jimbojetset - thermostat sounds like it needs replacing as it's opening too wide or not closing at all when you switch off at night and it cools.
