    Default power windows

Hi all, the wife picked up her new insignia last week, v. nice too, but, the power windows will not work with the ignition off!! This is very inconvenient, my vectra windows work without and I can operate them on the key fob too, does anyone know if there is a way round this, ie, a hidden feature, it does'nt mention it in the handbook? Cheers.

Mine work with the keyfob, just keep the lock button pressed for the windows to go up. A BMW I once owned would work if the door was open without the key, haven't tried that one on the insignia yet tho

A royal pain it can be too. As said will close with the fob and they don't do what the vec does if you have auto wipers and close the window if it starts to rain as I found out not long after I got the car.

They all work with the keyfob, but not with the ignition off. It is a safety festure so people can't operate the windows without the ignition key in.

It's all to do with the Americans apparently, now they have it over there.

I wonder what difference it makes, if the ignition is off. If you want to stick your head out of the window then close it. Mvectra and the last one had "auto reverse" where it would go down again when it felt resistance. I wonder why they stopped that idea.
