I'd like to start by asking why the rest of you all chickened out and didn't come, must have been eating doughnuts I guess.
We'll I made it to my second meet today all be it on my self and Harry present. Had a good look at the Sri and was very simular to mine as with others I have seen, better looking back trim around the exhausts I need to work on that and Harry had painted skirts.
Inside mine actually had a better stereo and computer because I got the DAB 6 CD changer with the new style stearing wheel controls. Harry has the 54 style buttons and less info on the display. Other than that though, again the trim was almost the same, except the arm rest which I don't have.
Before I go any further, I'd like to say we played both topgolf and a round of adventure golf (putting, like crazy golf but not very crazy) and I won both. Sorry Harry, couldn't resist, though to be fare, he may have been letting his other half win.
After the golf we took some pics and looked at engines then went for some uncontroled fun!
Took the cars up two strips of dual carriage way, one up hill then down the other side. I though Harry's SRI suspension actually felt softer than mine and the clutch actually had feed back! Mines just completely un-natural, like pressing against nothing.
On the first run, I drove Harry's 3.0ltr and he drove mine with his misses in the passenger seat (adding extra weight ). I noticed that the 3.0ltr (with D-UK CR1) was happier down below 1000rpm in 5th than mine, which, I would expect because at those revs they turbo is doing nothing. The 3.0ltr didn't have a kick in it though, it was very smooth all the way up, it actually felt alot the the VXR when I drove that.
I gave it my all in harry's beast and upto 4th gear I actually though harry was gainning ground though he did have the inside on a gental curve. Once I hit 5th though I could feel the difference, it was still pulling very hard, mine is doesn't feel the same in 5th and 6th. Having said that, with out the kick, that mine gives it may have been precieved. Still it did start to pull away slowly in 5th with me driving the 3.0 and Harry in the 1.9 (with partner... ) on the up hill.
We then swaped over and I put my neons on to make me faster! Sophi didn't want to go again (saving weight, hmm...) so it was just Me Vs Thee. I didn't get to go in front but over the same straight we me driving the 1.9 there was no noticable difference (up to the speed limit of course )
I still think mine felt faster low down though and harry's felt like it held on for longer and pushed more in higher gears. I'm suprised at this because I expected the opposite. I had my box set to level 5, rather than the 6 I ran at PVS or 8! I ran at Courteney's because in the current temps I've had problems at higher levels. I was very impressed by the drive and I think most people would go for the 3.0ltr on the basis of how smooth the delivery is. I prefer my cricket bat round the head delivery though, and as Harry recons he gets 10mpg less than me, I don't think I could aford the fuel bills anyway.
Still remains for me to get the beast down to a track and put a real time on the board but 0-60 I think I would have Harry, 1/4 mile may be a different story.
Definatly need some big mean tyres on her though Harry, once those NCT5s wear out, get some 235s on there.
