    confused warrantydirect

Hi anyone had any dealings with this company.

I have been toying with the idea of buying an extended warranty for the veccy, but before i part with 500 notes its going to cost.

thought i would ask about and see if they are any good, do they pay up,ect. cover they have offered includes fair wear and tear after 90 day's, and seems to cover everything else.

I've just lost £400 through them.

I booked the car in for a service to keep up the service history. The service Highlighted a drop link and tie rod needed replacing. I phoned them to be told I wasnt covered. After a heated conversation it suddenly emerged that I was covered as I had 'wear and tear cover'

I then when to my local nationwide auto centre..... The guy behind the desk said outright that I had no chance claiming for those parts... he then rang the company and they said no the customer isn't covered... He then put the phone down.

I then explained to the guy that I was covered etc... A few seconds later his phone rang and it was the warranty company informing him there had been a mistake and I was covered.

I booked the car in and handed over my fully stamped up service history book.

I was contacted later that afternoon by the warranty company and told that I didn't have full service history....

I later found out that I had missed the '20,000 miles or 1 year or whichever comes sooner' service guide by thirty days :-( Total genuine error on my part.

I then asked for a proportionate refund of my 400 pounds ( I only took the 3 year policy out 2 months ago) and I was then told I wasn't entitled to any form of refund as I had voided the policy!!!!!

I am now putting in a formal complaint with the financial ombudsman.

I understand that I am in the wrong but it was a genuine mistake and how on earth can they justify keeping all my money!!!

I am now well out of pocket and have had to pay for the repairs.

Just be warned. These companys take no prisoners and I'll never take out a car warranty again. :-(

be careful if sign up as some warrentys write stuff in ways that you think your covered for stuff and turns out your not. plus if you do claim, then if you cancel the policy as if you sell the car then they are entitled to ask for the full premium if you paying monthly.

i had cover with these guys before for an Celica GT4 i owned once.. I blew the engine up on the motorway (I was going rather fast) and they had to pay for it to be rebuilt, the garage where i had the work done had a fight on his hands but stood his gound and fought my corner for me... He did not like them and did not have nice things to say about them before or after my engine was fixed. They only paid up to a certain amount, i covered the extra...

I can only praise them. In the last two months they've paid of around £800 on two claims. My wifes Mini Coopers door actuator went at a cost of £185. They also paid out for an EGR for my Honda Accord at a cost of £600. In total over the years I think we've had around £2000 from them. With being with them so long I pay £22 for my Accord and Vectra (no excess, top cover and wear and tear). My wife pays £20 per month. Two very happy customers here (and we don't work for them).

Best warranties are extensions to either VX's own warranty, or Network-Q, if your car qualifies for it.
