    Default bullet connectors

    i need to take a wire to the cigg lighter i have got bullet connectors to join the wire, mite sound stupid electrics not my strong point, witch end do you connect to the cig lighter wire male or female end of bullet connector.

    Are you just cutting into the existing wire? sort of taking a spur off it. Or trying to connect to the original wire.

    i am fitting a sony head unit had to get diffrent leads to plug into the sony unit as it is full can buss there is a red live from this loom which i need to connect to cig lighter, guy in halfords said that bullet connectors will do the job, just need to know how they connect.

    It doesnt matter which end you connect, as long as you put a male on one end and female on the other.

    From the safety perspective you should fit the female (socket) to the live side so that if the connection accidentally came apart the live wire would not short to the car chassis.

    Just get a soldering Iron and do it properly. I will never use crimps again after a almost fire from one coming off. (and that was using proper ratchet crimpers!!)
