are you sure you need a camera with all of the giggery pokery ???
or are you looking for a point shoot syle camera with extra options?
have a look at the fujifilm hs10 best of both worlds amazing zoom and options BUT a massive saving on costs and has most lens options covered
i've got one - Ian Highlander has one and said at the rolling road that it actually makes him want to take photographs - so just to throw another idea into the smelting pot of things -
0-Large smile ......every time it's driven
I purchased a Canon EOS 500D to take pictures at my wedding and our honeymoon trip to New York. It was the same camera that the professional photographer used for our pro shots too. Very good and interchangable lenses etc.
It all depends what you want out of the camera really
It depends on what you're gonna do with it. Spend your money on better lenses as it's that that will give you good results. As a rule you're looking for a lens with a good F-stop about f2.8 @ 70mm then work out how much you've left for the camera. I bought a refurbed pentax from ebay, only 6mp for £150. you can see some of the shots i got with it here http://www.flickr.com/photos/chriswilkinsonphotography
pm duncan i think he is the camera expert
