Default Shall I go back to k&n or change?

Right lads payday has finally arrived so going to put a performance panel in (again) had a cone filter on then changed to panel but ended up going back to stock after reading a few bits on maf problems, but there are far more people running high flow filters with no problems so I imagine the maf problems were already there when people changed the panel filters!

So.......... Shall I return to k&n or go for a change to pipercross or green cotton?

I've always used K&K, heard the foam ones like pipercross can cause problems. Not used green cotton

Call me stoopid but does a panel filter really make a difference to performance? Does it help with acceleration, boost HP etc by that much to necessitate the extra dosh? Any one got any figures between standard filter and a K&N for example?

Petrol yes, diesel apparently not a lot - but worth doing if you intend keeping the car a few years as it's cheaper than keep buying new ones.
