If a stereo has not been divorced from the car / previous screen, is it a problem getting it married to a new car or is it just a tech2 session?

If it's not divorced then you will have to get code from car it came from or send it away to get set to delivery mode
Irmscher Insignia CDTI 130
MOD'S...Irmscher front spoiler, Irmscher mats, Irmscher door pins, Irmscher rear spoiler, Irmscher grille, Irmscher skirt & exhausts,Irmscher Roof spoiler MOD'S TO COME..Side skirts,Wheels
Even on full canbus?
And if its a stereo with a display and my old stereo was not divorced, is this code required?
If you have both radio and screen from donor car then they will fit without a problem

The general answer is.
If you are fitting JUST a screen or JUST a headunit that is still paired to a previous car, then you have two options.
1) Get the audio pass from the previous vehicle, and use this code to get it Tech 2 divorced / cleared.
2) get the component read via Tech 2 or Op-com, to get the original vehicles chassis number.
Then take this number along with £15 to Vauxhall, who will get you the audio pass code after a couple of days. Use this code to divorce the screen as described above.
Then using your own car's audio pass code, you can get it tech 2 paired to your car and the other part of the infotainment system.
If you are fitting BOTH headunit and screen which were still paired to a prevous vehicle, then they will work fine.
If you are upgrading from TID to GID, then you may need to add an extra red and an extra brown wire to the 32 pin screen connector - there are loads of threads describing this...some by me
It is not unheard of, for the speakers to crackle or pop occasionally for the first five minutes after turning the radio and / or ignition off.
After these 5 mins, all but memory power is cut by the BCM and CIM.
If your existing screen and display were just removed without tech 2 clearing, then this is no problem.
The screen will retain your car's settings, ready for if / when you wish to refit them to the car.
I have successfully fitted a CD70 and GID to both a Vectra-c and later a Cavalier Mk3 with no problems.
The speakers did pop in the Vectra...but not in my Cavalier.
The CD70 and GID were still paired to a Signum. They still are!!
Hope that helps

Sorry, I was vauge there, if the old stereo (full canbus) was not divorced from the screen still in the car and I bought a replacement stereo with a screen (not one with the BC) what would be involved? Codes? or just a good licking with the wonder toy tech2?
Im getting confused lol
If you are replacing both stereo and screen with a paired replacement eg:from same car it will fit straight in
If you want to enable BC functions then you are going to have to find out the code for radio because if you want to alter any settings regarding screen or radio you will need their security code

So you are keeping your screen and fitting a new headunit.
If your new stereo is divorced, then you will need to tech 2 program it in to match your existing screen...you will need your own vehicles audio pass code.
If the screen and headunit are still paired, then you will need the audio pass code that they were paired with.
Use this code to tech 2 divorce the headunit.
Then pair to your existing screen with tech 2, using your own cars pass code.
Is that better?
