    hi m8
you need some macro lenses that screw on your lens
i've seen these at work and seen some pictures of some fruit pastels(sweets)
you should see the detail on a grain of sugar

18-55 is for wide angel shots and the 55-200mm if a telephoto lens so big zoom.

Some telephotos come with a switch on the side of them for macro others don't.

I bought those screw on macro lens covers and they are ok but you have to be very close to your subject (e.g. about 1-4cm) which can cause some lighting issues i.e shadow of you and the camera looming over the subject. You can also get blue-fringing or de-focused areas around the edge of the images. Another thing is that the dept of field is very narrow which can sometimes be a blessing but also a curse and increasing the aperture size doesn't seem to increase the DOF. The camera may also struggle to auto focus.

Here is probably the best shot I got with the macro attachment:

If you had a dedicated Macro lens you can be further away from the subject which is ideal if you want a macro shot of a butterfly on a flower. You wouldn't be able to get that shot from the screw on macro lens attachment. You'd also have better control over the DOF and focus.

Unfortunately I cant afford a Macro lens as I bought an Olympus 520 SLR which uses their own lens system called Four-Thirds. Good camera but their lenses are about 3x the cost of other manufacturers lenses!
