    confused Help - Tyre valve

    Hello,

I am trying to adjust my tyre pressures. A simple task normally, HOWEVER on one of my wheels I have the following valve dust cap...

I have come across locking dust caps before, and have looked for small grub screws etc, but I cant find anything. It simply wont undo. Does anyone have an ideas?

    Thanks,
    Alan

Can't quite tell from photo, mine have a small hole in top the a pin in the key goes through and "locks, otherwise they just revolve.
We both have these so if it's that type I can lend you a key to get it off.
Otherwise looks like it might have a doubllle nut at bottom, like a locking nut? If all else fails go with Bigmac's idea.

    Hi,

Thanks for the help guys, removed the vectra logo, no grub screw , tried the back nut idea, still nothing

Soooo... I resorted to a hack saw and mole grips.

Cut through just the aliminum valve cap and then split it with a screwdriver.

The valve cap was GLUED on . Was never going to come off. Very clever idea whoever did that lol

Good job I checked as my pressure was down to 20psi.

    Thanks,
    Alan

Was probably just corrosion, thats why you are supposed to grease them before fitting

When we lived in an area where that happened regularly, I used to go to scrappy and fill my pockets with the plastic ones then used them.
I quite like the ones I have now, that just spin if you don't have the key. Never been keen on the grub screw ones, I either dropped the grub screws or they rusted in. Glueing them on would be crazy!
