Hi folks, looking at getting a diesel, probably the 2.2dti as I cant afford the 150 LOl. Can anyone confirm if the engine in the early C is the same as the one fitted to the vectra B (2.2dti) many thanks.

Yeah it is, odds and ends were slightly moddified to it, but the engine its self stayed the same..
Still cam chain rather than belt?
Dave
Yes it still uses a chain to drive the cam shaft.
Thank you.
I've got a 2.2dti SRi and things to look out for in the engine bay that I have had issues with are the Turbo to Intercooler pipe and the vacuum/boost pipes.
With the intercooler pipe I got a new silicone (instead of rubber) pipe off ebay for £50. Vauxhall don't sell the pipes individually, they wanted £120 for 4 other pipes!
The vacuum/boost pipes are a hard plastic pipe that can crack or get nicks in them. The rubber connectors can also split. This causes the car to go into limp-home-mode. I replaced the pipes with silicone ones off ebay for £8 for 4 meters (although probably only needed 3m).
Its also a good idea to clean the EGR and boost sensor every 6/12months but that applies to all the diesel models.
Pictured below: New silcone intercooler pipe on the left and the red pipes are the new vacuum/boost pipes.
Thanks Innes, much appreciated.
Also to add that the DTi is a fairly solid lump
