Vectra C (2004 1.9 cdti) black smoke, no turbo, air leak HELP!

Not a clue if this is in the right place

Im having some degree of difficulty with my vetra having no power and blowing black smoke. The problem has been traced to an air leak that can be felt when putting my hand down the back of the bumper (in front of the radiator)

any ideas where this leak could be coming from?

any help would be very much appreciated!

It's most likely the intercooler, get someone to hold the revs on boost while you have a look... it will be very apparent

not a connecting pipe? In all honesty, I have no idea about cars so if it is the intercooler, how mcuh would that set me back to repair/replace?

the only way to tell properly is to hold the revs down & have a good old propper look with the bumper removed

Planning on doing that tonight (taking to garage first to let them find the actual problem then hoping to fix it myself)

Worst case cost for replacement intercooler?
