this is what winnie posted, hope he dont mind me reposting this, hope it helps.

New update jut been outside for 3hours now lol and removed the dpf very easy to do really if you have the right tools

Undo the rear bracket and undo the rear clamp it has one 14mm nut once thus is off then remove the temp sensor on the side of the dpf a 17mm coller and then pull out temp sensor
Undo the 3 12mm nuts holding the flexi on to te front of the dpf and remove the 2 pressure pipes at the top held on by spring clips then twist and bang with a big hammer it will slide off the rear clamp then take out from under the car

    Any more questions just ask

And thanks for all the help best no so far I have done

I then drilled and bashed out the insides to get rid of the honey comb etc once it was completely empty I then refitted in reverse once all back on again I went under the bonnet and crimped over the small pressure sensor pipe then reset the saturation to zero on op com you don't need to do this

Started up and no lights been fir a drive and wow much power from 1200rpm and gies like stink now a totally different car

Thus was my problem it was fully blocked but I had no lights at all to show me just lack of power through the rev range at all

By removing the said article what effects would it have on the car.

It was originally put there for a reason.

nothing negative that has been encountered yet, seems to improve more than anything. originally it is there to meet emission controls and taxation reasons to attract company car drivers. yet the same engine in a manual hatch doesn't have one, so i cant see any harmful effects.
