Power loss advice please

Hi

I have a 57 Signum 1.9 150 Cdti with 52k on the clock. I had the EML light on a couple of months back and they swapped the EGR under warranty and the problem went away. However for the last week the EML light has been on a few times, same symptoms again. It's been into vaux and they have reset the eml but say there was no fault code. I also have a Gendan GCR25 code reader and each time it faults no error codes are generated :-(

Any ideas?

if your egr is new then it's unlikely to be that - but it might be worth taking it off to see how it is

other than that clean your boost sensor with carb cleaner and a soft toothbrush

while your there

check all hoses in particular boost hoses, intercooler hoses to make sure they are not split anywhere
that should rule out some obvious bits

When was it last serviced ? can you describe if its losing power at bottom end or through the rev range generally?

Had the AA out to it this morning, there fault code reader sees no codes either but shows the EGR self check system as incomplete so he rekons it's a faulty new EGR.

Booked into the garage tomorrow.

Loss of power throughout the range, basically no turbo I think.

Turns out it was the DPF, which suprises me as pretty much all my driving is motorway or fast A roads. They did a tech 2 regen and say the % seem okay, whatever that means. We shall see. They have quoted me 800 for a new one, local garage have quoted just over 400.

then again

you could consider not having DPF altogether

search the various posts on site to see what others have done ie knocking DPF out or just replacing with straght pipe

£800 seems a lot of money to spend
