    Angry Cambelt kit & water pump change

    Ok, so I changed my cambelt will tensioner and guides as well as the water pump. Now its running again, the engine is very noisy (tappet sort of sound) and struggles to start first time.
    Anyone any ideas what it could be?? Or could give me pics of the vx timing marks to line back up and start again.

    2006 Vectra C Z19DT engine.

    I just had a look in TIS. I dont think we have tensioned the belt fully, would this cause the engine to rattle??

    Anyone know??

    Cheers for that. Seems to be some confusion about the crank positioning on TDC when putting on the timing belt. These images are from TIS 2000;

    Crankshaft timing at 8 o'clock ish.

    Camshaft timed as marks on engine and pulley.

    Hope this helps someone. Ill be re-doing my belt tomorrow. It turned over pretty freely, so it should just be a time up and belt replace. I hope!!!

    i would go with tis everytime. it strikes me that the crank marks on both the 120 and 150 are in the same place. If you look at both tis and the sealy tool, it would appear that the mark on the crank should be inline with the oil pump bolt NOT the notch in the cover at 5 o,clock.
    To me, the dowl on the crank pulley lines up with the notch in the cover and the white mark on the crank pulley is in line with the oil pump bolt at 8 o,clock.

    i did also hear that an incorrectly tensioned cam belt can cause a rattle/tappet sound, hope the sealy info on tensioning helps you get it sorted, keep us posted

    Managed to sort my motor. It was out by 1 tooth on the cam! Bleeding thing!! Sounds fine now. I bought a cambelt kit, water pump & accessory belt (fan belt). It was £107 inc vat. That was from a place in Radcliffe near Bury.
