    Default z20net camshaft locking tool

Hi there, i have a 2004 2.0 turbo signum with a z20net engine fitted. Problem I have is that the timing chain has done a number on the car. Does anyone know where I can get a cam alignment tool to set up the cam timing after I have replaced the chains and guides etc. The cams on this engine are not indexed in anyway to aid fitting the cam sprockets in the correct position or is it a vauxhall only special tool thats required? If so will the stealers sell it, or is there someone else who does this tool. I know that it replaces one of the cam caps and holds the cam but just cant find one anywhere. Thanks in advance Scottie.

vx like many others have a specialist tool for alignment - 3 stages iirc

have a search for sealey tools (based in Bury st edmunds) they do timing kits for lots of european style engines and cover both gm and saab with this would be z20net /B207l or R

I'm sure you dont need the tool mate, the new chain kits have all the paint dots you'll need. There are guides on the 2.2 forum mate (Same engine before you ask)

Thanks for the pointers, the z20net doesnt have a keyway on either camshaft for the cam sprocket and I have had to replace them as they were damaged, hence the need for the special tool. I already have the tool for holding the cams on both but not the one for the camshaft to sprocket alignment. The z22 has a keyway for the cam sprockets hence its easier to do. The local vauxhall garage have been very very helpful but havent got that tool in their special tools box! They replace complete cams and sprockets if the chain has broken apparently.Eeeeeek! I will check out sealey again but couldnt find anything earlier and laser dont do one for the z20net. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh starting to get fed up of this job, that'll be the whole thing all built up and then held up until I get a 50p peice of metal. Cheers again Scottie.. Any other help would be appreciated, someone somewhere must have or know where to get a hold of this pair of cam holders.

A Saab forum or specialist will be able to sort you out mate. But I recon if you speak to Vocky or ATOM on the 2.2 forum they will be able to help as they both use the NET's heads on there 2.2's. Vocky is currently building a Saab 2.2 hybrid at the moment using the B207L (NET's) head. Thread HERE

Thanks Rushy, already been on one of the saab forums and it looks like the saab version has an index mark on the cam which aligns with a similar mark on the cam journal next to it. The vauxhall version however doesnt have any marks at all.
