Fan not working except on full

Hi, new to the forum but hoping someone could help. My fan has stopped working on 1,2,and 3 but still does on number 4. It was making a noise a few weeks ago so I sprayed a little oil on the fan and the noise stopped. Heater works OK.

Any ideas on how to fix?

You need to replace the resistor in the passenger side foot well, about 25 quid from the stealers

could be the brushes

If the brushes are well worn they wont make the motor spin until there's so much power going into the fan that it will then work, hense it's not working till its on full power!

Its a possibility mate, but odds on its the resistor pack as John said, its a very common problem.

Only just occurred to me the other day that the same thing has happened to mine.... Always drive around with the air on at least setting 1 but can't feel it until 5-6

Had the same problem with mine went to Maplins to get a new thermo resister. Alot cheaper than a stealer or flea bay

I bet the pollen filter drain is blocked too

easy fix this pollen filter drain is blocked which means water goes where it should not do straight into the resistor pack which is located behind glove box right against bulk head quite expensive from vauxhall dealers bout £30 from breakers or 69p for a replacement thermal fuse from maplins and ya solder this in to resistor pack yourself
