Got turned down for a test drive!!!

I'm on the market for a new car. I have been thinking about a new Diesel Megane Convertible. I've been around all the local dealers here to have a look and they are all Black or Whilte Petrol models. All the publicity has the black and white models too.

Last week I was workling in Pompey and I went to the local dealer to see what colour they had. WHITE

but it was a diesel. So next day I went to ask for a test drive.

Anyhow they knocked me back because I wasn't local and they wouldn't get the sale. I said that I wanted to buy a Renault and it would help me decide if they could help. I also pointed out the family business buys Renaults by the 100s.

The salesman went away to talk to the boss and suddenly the car was reserved for a test drive in 10 minutes.

I had to hang around for 30 minutes while a colleague dropped something to me. The Megane didn't move an inch. Dammed liar!

I am still a bit ticked off now. I know they wanted the chance of a sale probably thought I was having them on, but to lie like that and potentially cost Renault a sale elsewhere is astounding...

I got back home and went to a dealer in Liverpool who had a petrol model, I asked to them to track a diesel down for me and told them the story and they were gob smacked. They rang around for me and there aren't any. I'm tempted to complain to Renault. SEWARD RENAULT PORTSMOUTH.....YOU SUCK!

I can understand how they don't want to waste there time if you have no intention of buying from them TBH.

im not a fan of renault,nissan and peugeot they just dont do it for me but
everyones to themselves i suppose.

Doubt it, they haven't been in the show rooms for weeks!

The manager (Dealer Principle) was part of the process.

I agree with you on the Nissans. Pugs are a little dated. I like the Renaults ATM....I tested a Laguna Coupe GT recently

As you know Andy, I will get a HUGE discount when I buy...just like I did with the Vectra.

I had 2 Laguna 1.9dci sport tourers. A Dynamique model and the 6 speed gearbox failed at 32,000 miles (£650) and an Initiale model that had all the extras, the Xenon headlight seal failed and filled the ballast with water (£240+ for the headlight and £300 for the ballast) and the turbo went at 71,000miles (£1380).
Wouldn't go near one ever again, too fragile. Shame really as they were superb cruisers.
