    Default tyre sizes

    hi , i'v currently got 215/50/R17 on my 2005 signum 2.0t and i've been told i can get 225/45/R17 fitted. Does that sound right?

    Yep that is a recognised alternative tyre size, it's even in the handbook

    Dunno if they will be to wide 255! if they just had a lower profile (tyre wall 5mm shorter) then yeah. The ride may be a bit more harsh but they would fit.

    No doubt someone on here will have tried that size. This is on a standard 17" wheel your talking about?

    Well worth it as 225/45/17 is a more common size than the 215/50/17 and thus cheaper.

    had 225 s on my old 17in gsi/elite wheels and didnt notice any differance in ride /comfort. khalid

    Curious only but, not saying I will but, I have 215/50/17 on my 05 SRI .. Is it possible to put less low profile tyres on the rims to soften the ride a bit?
