Autoglym bug and tar remover is quickest and easiest, can use WD40. Not sure what else, they should have done it. Could heat it up gently with hot cloth or heat gun set low (or hair dryer if you can "borrow" one.

when i debadged mine i removed the glue with white spirit
make sure you wash it straight off afterwards-the badges on the chrome strip were the worst, removed as much glue as i could with hot soapy water-then polished the faint shadows that were left behind with autosol metal polish
came up a treat!
You can purchase a spray from Wurth which removes the glue from decals which works extremely well.
Can't find it on their web site but it works a treat.

Metalic t-cut, small amount on a cloth and rub gently with finger tip
Decent polish and plenty of elbow grease, it will come off.
A thing on ebay called "Sticky Stuff remover" a hair dryer and some dental floss (not as harsh as fishing gut)
Hair dryer to warm the glue first & then just polish away
