120's are belt driven, Vauxhall reccomended interval is 10 years/100000 miles, but its worth doing sooner, personally i say nearer 60k. You could release the upper cambelt cover and ease it to one side carefully, then look and see if the belt looks new. You cant remove the upper cover without first taking off the engine mount, but it will give enough to see. Possible cost £150 to £180 ish at independant, including water pump change.
Cheers barney, Guess im gunna have to take a loo at the belt.
Anything to look out for or just the usual wear?
Damaged sides and cracked teeth?
the cover will only move enough to see the flat side of the belt, so look to see it any printing on the belt looks unworn, this would indicate a recent belt change. if its all worn off, then it's likely to be original. Be on the safe side and get it changed soon as you can, 120's dont take kindly to snapped cam belts.
