    Default car died today

hey guys, the bus died today, started to tick over very lumpy(like a v8) then there was no power at all then just cut out. look a while to start again. funny thing is its running fine again. just strange that it stalled cause its an auto.

any ideas guys??? should i be cleaning the egr valve and the boost valve??

start with cleaning the egr and boost sensor, check all the vac pipes and make sure the swirl rod is attached correctly. coz its an auto it will have a diesel particulate filter in the exhaust and when doing a regen, the engine can seem lumpy at idle. Once all things checked, take it on a fast hot run to see if it clears the dpf a little. If the dpf is blocked or blocking, the engine will stall.

when was it last serviced? could also be the fuel filter blocking.

Was it cold when it died or hot after restart??

have you checked your fuel filter housing for leaks / poor seal and make sure the fuel hoses are held in place properly

just cleaned boost sensor, and took the bus up the motorway. Inst consumpt jumped to 0.8 gal/h at idle. Car feels better but when the ins consumpt jumped was it doing a regen???

might have been doin a regen

Problem now fixed, think it was a comb of boost sensor, egr valve and diesel filter. All of the above were black so a good clean out with carb cleaner looks like it worked.
The how 2's were a great help showing where and how's best to get at items. Hats off to the people that put the how 2's together.
