    Red face Engine Management Light...

    Done this
    http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=108432

And now the engine managment lights is on... Its pulling and driving fine but 2 things i may have messed up with...

When i took off the EGR i pushed the valve back in slightly when cleaning but the warning didn't come on after i put it all back together blanked...

I then cleaned the throttle body, and once back together i went to spray carb cleaner through the TB and down the manifold and got my mate to turn the car over and rev it but i'd forgot to reconnect the electrics for the TB. it was instantly reving between 4 and 6k. dint realise i hadn't connected it...

Anyway all now connected correctly but the light is now on... do you think i have a problem considering the car is fine, or has it registered and now needs the light turning off?!?

    thanks, lee

Is the light on all the time or does it go our? If it goes out it's probably just cos you started the car with the tb unplugged.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it

Its staying on at the min... I did the exact same as Rushy's pic below. with the EGR off at an angle, I guessed thats so the valve can still move up and down over hanging the blanked plate... but the valve might be stuck now as it still in the same position... valve flush with the edge. just the point sticking out. when i took it off it was proud a couple of mm... could it now be jammed?!?

I was very gentle with it

    Just sorted it lol...

Realised after posting Rushy's pic, mine was a shallower angle. So the second opening on the EGR was blocked. Twisted it closer to 90' from the block and 1st turn over and lights gone out

Hi mate, just seen your thread, yea the EGR needs to still be plugged into the loom and there has to be enough room for the plunger to move. Also when you turn on the ignition the TB goes through a test sweep, as it wasn't connected it would have thrown a light. A reset will clear everything.

As soon as i twisted the EGR on the one bolt the light went out, the hole with the plunger was free it was the other side that was blocked... I did assume you'd only need to have the plunger side free, but now both holes for the EGR over hang and its fine... cheers...

God Damn... Just been out and light off for 1st few miles, then came back on all way back?!?

Just disconnected battery and going to see if that helps... How does the plunger work, should it go up and down with the engine running etc, as its not moved??

    ******!!

No, it only works at certain work loads. You might have an air leak. Try spraying some carb or brake cleaner around the blanking plate and the TB while the engine is running. If the revs drop in sound then you have a leak. Silly question, is the MAF plugged in? I once started the car with it unplugged and it took a few drives to sort itself out. If all else fails and the EGR is at fault then you can buy an EGR cheater from the 2.2 site. The means you can take the EGR totally out of the system with the cheater fitted for £10.

Well i disconnected the battery for an hour, and its back to normal - for now... Will see if it pops back up in the future...

I didn't use any sealant when fitting the blanking plate and i left out the old metal gasket. did you leave that in place?

Everything is definitely connected right, i only disconnected the EGR and the TB electrics... EGR got connected once blanked, and i only started the car after i cleaned the TB, but did leave it running before i realised... hopefully the battery has sorted it, or i'll reconnect the EGR properly and take it from there...
