Default why are nissans so cheap?

hey all, got to look for a cheaper to run car... literally considering anything, so i stumbled across a 04 plate nissan primera 2.2 dci with 48k miles on, the spec is good aswell...

    http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1892106.htm

£4,000 seems cheap to me for a car thats supposed to be a decent make and engine, built in sat nav and reversing camera!! i cant even find an 04 diesel focus lx that cheap

Because to would get the p**s taken out of you for driving a Nissan (apart from a Skyline or a 350/370Z).

The one thing you can guarantee is that it will be reliable. If you need a cheap car that just keeps running, buy it

brother had a primera, he loved it, the dash is a little weird but I would bet they are more reliable than similar VH's, the 2.2 I believe is not as refined as it's equivalents. Nothing wrong with Nissan's, that has the twin electrics fitted so has probably towed a caravan.

the GTR isn't cheap - if it was i'd be driving one right now
still, at 50k it is an incredible bargain when compared to porsches etc.
so yeah in a way cissan are cheap.

No way would I be buying a diesel Nissan, they use Renault engines. That era Dci engine as well was really NOT reliable, eating turbo's and constant EGR faults.

When I was looking for a new car in 1999 I compared :
    Peugeot 406
    Nissan Primera
    VX Vectra

The Nissan Primera won hands down on all fronts
However when I asked two dealerships about extending a warranty beyond 60K miles (even just to 100K miles), they could not find a policy

I do agree the Nissan doesn't have the looks, and the latest one just looks like a shopping trolley, but when buying a car I look at all aspects of the car

As a high mileage driver, residual value does not concern me, although at 120K miles I wouldn't expect much return compared to a similar specification Vectra

At least it's not a Peugeot!

Nissans don't hold their value as they aren't seen as a desirable brand & a lot of their older models were terrible for rusting. I don't think they are as well made as they used to be either. However they are very reliable. I had an almera gti which i abused daily & it gave me no trouble at all in 151k, i only got rid as i wanted something cheaper to run. Is it the 136bhp or the 112bhp version? From what i've been told the 112bhp version is a nissan unit & is supposed to be pretty reliable, but the 136bhp version is a renault unit & has been known to suffer injector & turbo problems & is quite thirsty for a diesel.

i dont know what version it is to be honest, brother had the 136 bhp version but was only for a week, remember thinking it was nice to drive and decently specced but thought it was a top of the range thing, then i find one for cheap as chips!
