Question Timing Chain - to change or not?

I have a 2.0 DTI with 105K on the clock. It's always been regularly serviced plus I've done an extra oil & filter change every 10K miles. My main dealer says the chain should be changed at 100K. My local independent says there should be no need to change it at all given the frequent oil changes.

    Who is right?

    Thanks

Neither really mate. Chains are designed to last the life of the car, but like any component CAN wear out. Usually you can hear it if it's starting to go as they rattle. If you're planning on keeping the car for a long time then it could be worth it depending on the cost and if you can afford it...

100K is the change interval for all VX cam chains. You could wait for it to break or rattle, or for peace of mind, get it changed now.
