knocking noise

I've got a knocking noise comming from the front of the car.
It get's worse when you go over speed bumps(slowly).But
when it's driving straight or going round corners it's fine.
Any idea's?(vectra 56 plate 150 tdi)Cheers.

Several common issues on Vecs that cause this, drop links, front ARB (anti roll bar) bushes, radiator mounting bushes, track rod ends.

Most likely suspect (and most common) is the drop links, will cost you about £12 each to buy and five minute job to replace them.

check the bottom of the front spring, mine was knocking and it was a bit of the spring broken off, flapping about on the pvc insulator and hitting the strut. Fine is a straight line except over bumps.

I had a knocking noise caused by the spring on the brake pad not seating proplerly and basically not doing its job!

These drop links? can you do it yourself or is it an expensive job to get done

relativley easy as a diy, i think theres a how 2 on it, shouldnt take a garage more than half hour to do them both, so depends on there labour rates.
