    Default Got a new toy

Got a new phone last week. The nokia X60. I got it because my contract was up and my Sat Nav broke that week. The nokia has FREE sat nav built in. It comes with the car charger and a cradle for the car. Oddly the cradle covered over the lens for the camera so I drilled a hole in it and now video my exciting drives to work! Filmed this video clip this morning:

Some woman driver in a little silver car didnt seem to realise you need to acllerate when joing a duel carriageway from a slip road. 4 cars over took her on the slip road and then I got stuck behind her!

The problem being your camera didn't flash so she wouldn't get fined for dangerous driving. Good footage that, I have the new Samsung Wave with hd video, will have to give it a try when I find a muppet to film, which shouldn't prove too difficult.

How long can you record for. Good habit to film your journeys in case of road rage / accident.

It'll record for 1.5hr clip at a time. Storage space is 32gb.

At medium setting with sound and 4:3 aspect ratio (320x240), 1minute = 4mb. aprox 133hrs total on 32gb

At High Quality with sound and 16:9 aspect ratio (640x352), 1 minute = 14mb aprox 38hrs total on 32gb

At High Quality with sound and 4:3 aspect ration (640x480), 1 minute = 19mb aprox 28hrs total on 32gb

Of course you are going to use the 32gb for other things on the phone such as photos and music.

I was thinking about getting one of those in-car DVRs

but as moneys tight at the mo this will stand in for it for now.

You should have waited for a couple of months for the new N8. I've had one (prototype) for a couple of months and it's fantastic. 12 Megapixel camera, HD recording, Dolby Digital, and HDMI output. Blows the iphone away easily!!!!

The N8 would have been out of my price range. I'm paying £15 a month with Virgin and get 200 mins, unlimited texts and 100mins virgin to virgin talk time.

The phone was £100 on the £15 tariff (or free on the £20 tariff) but I phoned Virgin and told them I had their XL TV and Broadband, home package plus my wife has a virgin mobile so could they do me a deal? They agreed to do the the X6 on the £15 package for me and let me have the phone for free instead of paying £100 for the handset. I'm happy with it :-)
