I bought some spax 30 mm lowered springs from LMF off the top of my head they were £139 delivered.

The only issues will get is better ride/handling

My other car. 1972 1641cc slammed beetle. On the road finally!!

I would strongly advise a 4 wheel alignment check after a couple of weeks as it will change the geometry slightly.

Another vote for Spax, I'm using the Spax PSX adjustable kit (shocks and springs) on my SXi Saloon and it's a completely different animal. Drives like it's on rails now and lowered by about 35mm according to the kit specs.

The Spax PSX kit you'll need if you want to do it is part number "TAP 670" for the saloon or hatch and "TAP 673" for the estate and you'll struggle to find these part numbers on any site that sells Spax but any stockist can get hold of them for you.

As OPC said though, always get a full four wheel alignment done after lowering the car. The geometry on mine was miles out after lowering it.
