A good friend is having trouble getting £4K for a 2006 Saab 9-3 2.8t Aero, this car has everything satnav xenon's, 18's, sunroof full upgraded leather but because the VED is £420 no-one will take it as a trade in!

this is the issue - some dealers cant stand the trade in value of the vehicle haning around for months only to be marked down to try and sell it on....

now if it had a engine with less than 1000cc / low tax class they would rip your arm off

thats why its a buyers market at the moment on high tax bracket cars - if you can afford one now - its probable now or never

0-Large smile ......every time it's driven

I had 3 garages refuse to take my 3.2 as PX and that was a 2002 (52) so tax wasnt too high. They said who in there right mind would want such a car! I had to leave promply before some body got hurt in one instance.

To be honest if it were not for my work situation I would still be buying and driving large engined cars and the 9-3 2.8t and VXR were at the top of my wish list

No one likes handing out £200 for car tax, is it surprising when its £420? Before I got my Vec I was looking for another Accord but all that was for sale were the 1.8 Sports, and the reason for that is they are £270 for car tax, so im not surprised people are not interested in paying £420. Road tax for first year on some new high co2 cars is over £700 now!!
Only good thing is there are gonna be lots of big cars(audi A8 comes to mind) selling for sweety money before long.

420 quid might sound like a lot, but in the grand scheme of things it's not a huge amount compared to the cost of a tank of fuel these days...
