    Default hesitating - limp mode

the old girl started hesitating a week ago, chucked some millers in but today twice ive been hit by limp mode. could this be the fuel filter , had the EGR replaced a couple of years ago but there was no hesitating then.
am i being too hopefull of it just being the fuel filter? off to cornwall friday 300 miles so a little worried

    fuel filter unlikely unless

    a) you got water or other contaminants in there
    b) you've got a partially de-pressuired system eg leak

i' start with EGR clean + boost sensor clean + check your swirl bar connector and it s actuation.

nothing to lose but a bit of time and £5 on carb cleaner

    bargain if it works

    are you brakes ok?

As it's a dti we'll ignore the swirl bar bit.

Firstly cheack all of the pipes, Vacuum and Boost. The boost pipes on the DTi are made of cheap rubber and do split giving the symptoms you describe.

If the EGR hasn't been cleaned since you had it replaced 2 years ago I can nearly guarentee it will be coked up and in need of a clean. The boost sensor (due to where it sits) attracts oil vapour and over time this can clog the sensor so clean that too.

Once you've tried all of the above report back

Are you getting a flash of the radiator light when limp mode comes in, if so id put 50p on it being the crank shaft speed sensor. clean the egr first as thats free but if the fault remains get the codes cleared and see what gets chucked up.
