Default hello all new SRI turbo owner

    Hello everyone

Im new to site so thought I would say hi.

I should be finalising a purchase on Wednesday of a 2005 met silver vectra sri turbo.

Has 53k on clock with full service history. Two owners (one being vauxhall). 12 mth MOT, just been serviced, with 3 mths warranty.

Took it for a drive today and was very impressed with the torque the car has; I am stepping out of a civic type r though so its not hard.

Wonder if it belonged to anyone on here? I am buying it from a place in Coventry.

Needs touching up in a few places, but thats not an issue for me.

Anything I should just have one last check for that you are aware?

Research I have done suggests these engines are pretty good (fingers crossed) so I am hopping to get 2/3 years out of it.

Ps what are your thoughts on extended warranties? Guy putting 3 mth Platinum RAC cover on it.

Was up for 4995, I got it for less obviously

I will guys but has scratch on front bumper n one on rear just below light.

I have a mate who owns a chips away franchise so I not too worried lol.

Want to give it a good clean n wax get those scuffs sorted n I will post.

Gents is there anything to worry bout with these engines?

I gave it a good drive today n seemed fine but I'm taking a mate Wednesday to give it the once over. Anything to check for? The MOTs n service all stack up n is hpi clear so I hope it's not a lemon.

Back to my Sri days. Lol. First was a X reg 2.2 bertone coupe.

One owner was vauxhall so has been lease vehicle. Has pros and cons but does me that it has been serviced by VX since new.

My type R is lease n they are very strict about servicing etc so presume VX would have been.

Tjx for the replies, gives me confindence in what I'm doing.

Wanted pre face as it's 0-60 time is closer to what I'm use to.

    Welcome along

Great engine and nothing realy to report that fails on them apart from the aux belt pulleys. You will find the 0-60 times will be no different in real life between pre and post facelift, but once tuned the facelift's will normally produce more power...but thats just the usual willy waiving that no-one really bothers about

    Interesting given the stated times.

Not too worried bout it though as it is not why I'm buying the car.

I have a rapid car now but with a two yr old and another due December I wanted something cheaper to run, insure, that has more than three doors and no alacanta seats. Plus I have no finance or rental on it as buying outright so save on monthly lease cost.

I am aware of the potential tunning ops the engine has but that will follow.

First the cosmetics, then if it's mechanically sound. Remap, exhaust, intercooler, brakes n suspension.

    Am very excited lol
